Public Information Officer

The Public Information Officer performs professional level and administrative support to the Sheriff and his Office to include; development and maintenance programs.

 

The PIO also serves as a liaison and spokesperson between the communities it serves and members of the news media.  A direct line of communication exists through press releases, press conferences and various media interviews. 

 

It is the responsibility of the Public Information Officer to maintain open communication with the public and news media, limited only by mandates of law and the requirement of current criminal inquiries.  In addition, the PIO must ensure that dissemination of information will not interfere with the right to a fair trial.
