Deputy S.D. Sweatt

Deputy Sweatt has been a School Resource Officer for nearly six years and a sworn deputy for over eight years. He is also the creator and producer of The School Zone. He is a member of the North Carolina Association of School Resource Officers. Deputy Sweatt remains involved with proactive programs on behalf of the residents of Cumberland County, especially our youth.

Advice to Students:

Always think about the “Big Picture”. Don’t act on impulse, think about how your actions, right now, in the situation you are dealing with, will affect you 5 minutes from now, 5 months from now, or even 5 years from now. If you slow down, take the time to think it through and how your actions will affect your future as well as the future of those around you, you just may see why “Doing the right thing”, is normally the best course of action. There is an old saying, “Experience is the best teacher, but has the highest tuition.” Learn from the mistakes of others and follow what you know is right.
