TIPS
ON
BABY
MICHAEL CASE
· Baby
Michael was a healthy full term baby
· Full head
of dark hair
· Appeared NOT
to have a fair complexion
· Probably
less than 24 hours old when found
· Not born in
a medical center
· Baby's body
had been inside of a large black plastic trash bag at one time and the
bag appreared to
have wrapped around the baby's legs after he rolled out of it.
· baby
rolled out of bag because he was either intentionally thrown from a moving
vehicle or the bag unintentionally
fell from the moving vehicle
· Baby died
as a result of massive blunt force trauma to the chest, abdomen, and
pelvic area.
· The
injuries were probably inflicted PRIOR to being deposited at the
location which
he was found
· The
injuries appear to be too severe to have come from impact on the highway
· In short,
Baby Michael was murdered shortly after his birth, placed into a plastic bag,
and then deposited
on the side of Canady Pond Road.
· The trash
bag is not an ordinary trash bag. It measures 35 inches in width and 55
inches in length.
Because of its size it is considered a DRUM LINER. This is the
specific name given
to bags of this size. Anything smaller is called either a lawn and
leaf, large can
bag, etc.
· The use
of this drum liner plastic bag could be a critical clue that might raise
someone's
suspicions about a particular woman
· Inside
the bag was the placenta. Attached to the outside of the placenta were several
blood clots that
have been positively identified as being the blood of the mother
· A full
DNA profile of the mother has been obtained from the clots
· The
mothers DNA profile has been entered into CODIS Combined DNA Index
System.
· CODIS is
a national database of DNA profiles maintained b the FBI
· If a known
DNA profile of the mother is ever entered into this system by another law
enforcement agency
anywhere in the US a match will be made with her current profile
and her identity
will then be known
· Mother
not only left behind DNA but also her pubic hair which is brown in color and
suitable for
identification.
· The pubic
hair is of Caucasian origin, however Lumbee Indian or mixtures cannot be
ruled out
· Mother
took care of herself during pregnancy because of the weight of the baby and
the lack of alcohol
and drugs in the baby's blood
· Mother
may or may not have needed medical attention after birth
· Mother
might have suffered from severe blood loss and infection
· 4,000
posters have been given to 42 law enforcement agencies in Cumberland and 5
surrounding
counties
· The case
has been submitted to America Most Wanted
· The key
to solving this case is one question we want the public to answer for us.
"DO YOU
KNOW A CAUCASIAN or INDIAN FEMALE WHO WAS
EXPECTING A BABY
IN FEBRUARY OR MARCH OF 1999 AND THAT
IS UNACCOUNTED
FOR"
· MEANING:
· You have
never seen the baby
· The mother has told you or someone else
that the baby was still born
· The Baby was given up for adoption
· The Baby is living with relatives
· The baby is living with the father
· You
should not accept any excuse as to the location of the baby unless you have
seen the baby
yourself.
· You just
cant go around nine months pregnant and someone not know it.
· Someone knows
who the mother is, they just don’t know that they know who the
mother is
· If EVERY
citizen will stop and ask themselves "do I know a woman who was
expecting a baby in
February or March of 1999"
· If the
answer is "yes" then "where is the baby?"
· If you
have never seen the baby then we want the mothers name
· Individuals
that know of any woman that fits this profile should call Crime Stoppers
at 910-483-8477 or
the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500
· Callers
do not have to reveal their identity and all information will be kept strictly
confidential
